The 2014 Maryknoll Student Essay Contest Awards will be presented to:

More than 7,000 students competed for nearly $3,000 in cash prizes during the 2009 Maryknoll Student Essay Contest. The awards remain the same for the 2010 contest, with $1,000 provided to each of the two first place finalists, $300 awarded to each of the two second place finalists and $150 provided to each of the two third place award recipients.

In August 2013, Pope Francis challenged 500 young people on a pilgrimage to Rome to “have courage, go forward and make noise” as they move towards uncertain and hope-filled futures. This was the theme of our Maryknoll Student Essay Contest this year.

The letters written by the six winners of the “2014 Maryknoll Magazine Student Essay Contest” were seen by Pope Francis.

Six middle and high school students representing Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas and the Federated States of Micronesia have received cash awards for their winning submissions in Maryknoll magazine's 26th annual Maryknoll Student Essay Contest.

The awards remain the same for the 2011 contest, with $1,000 provided to each of the two first place finalists, $300 awarded to each of the two second place finalists and $150 provided to each of the two third place award recipients.
The Maryknoll Student Essay Contest awards a scholarship in each division (grades 6-8, grades 9-12). MaryKnoll is a US-based Catholic mission movement. The essay contests are usually on religious topics.
