Three local students were recently announced as winners in the VFW's annual Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy essay contests. Carly Craffen and Christopher Rapp of Ringwood joined Camryn Gurecki of Haskell in being recognized during VFW Post 6765's annual awards ceremony in Wanaque on Friday, Jan. 8. The students received certificates for their winning entries, which they read aloud to an appreciative audience of approximately 40 people.
