9-year-old wins Arthur Ashe essay contest

Harriet Tubman Charter School has another feather in its cap, as one of the school’s students has won the borough-wide title to the prestigious Arthur Ashe Essay Contest this year.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., August 6, 2013 – The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced the 10 winners of the 15th annual USTA/NJTL Arthur Ashe Essay Contest. The 10 winners, ranging in ages from 10 to 18, were selected out of 1800 entries submitted earlier this month. Each winner will receive a New York City travel package from August 23-August 25.
